During the past 30 years, I have been involved in genealogical pursuits, first as a hobby and then as a professional researcher. I am a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and strictly adhere to its Code of Ethics.
I am a past member of the Board of Directors of the Iowa Genealogical Society; have worked as an assistant librarian at the Iowa Genealogical Society Library; have spent many hours as a volunteer on genealogical projects; belong to numerous genealogical societies of which I have held various and sundry offices, and have spent extensive hours in courthouses, archives, libraries, churches, funeral homes, cemeteries, attics and other sites of potential and often elusive family records.
I have over 25 years experience as a legal assistant, giving me a thorough working knowledge of county, state and federal records, document filing requirements, recording sites, interpretation of certain document language, and the purpose and legal necessity of such documents, all of which makes it easier for me to traverse the halls of courthouses in search of relevant documents.
I have lived my entire life in Iowa, and have come to know its small towns and villages which today are preserving the treasured traditions of Iowa’s native people and of those who later crossed the oceans and were drawn to its rich prairies and growing cities. Iowa celebrates its past and honors those who endured the labors and toils of the frontier. It is with a devout appreciation of place and people that I will search to document the history of your ancestors.
